Download Windows 7 beta NOW!
I visited Microsoft’s Windows site to download Windows 7 beta ISO but was slapped with a message which said that the servers are unable to handle the load and will be back up and running once they can..
The good news is that Microsoft just made Windows 7 beta available for download and you can download it from here..
First select from the 32bit or 64bit version get your KEY and click on the Download button to download. It does download a download manager before it starts the ISO download. The whole package is about 2.4GB’s.
Warning: I went through the whole process of feeding in my details and stuff only to find out that the Download button wont work on Firefox. I could just be me!
Minimum recommended specs call for:
- 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
- 1 GB of system memory
- 16 GB of available disk space
- Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB memory (to enable the Aero theme)
- DVD-R/W Drive
- Internet access (to download the Beta and get updates)
Microsoft also suggests that Windows 7 beta should not be installed on a PC used for daily work as the beta version can be glitchy and can interrupt your work.

Its not just you. All of microsoft downloads are working only with IE. Its just like Windows Update does not work with firefox. But only sad thing is that the Beta is only till August. I would appreciate it if MS gives it off free for people who have tested it. As for what the critics say, its just an improvement over Vista and should have been given as a service pack
I am in the process of downloading the 2.44 gigabyte ISO from Microsoft's Web site right now. I did not have any trouble starting the download in Firefox 3.0.5 on Linux Mint 6.
I wonder if the download issue in Firefox is fixed, or if it's just relegated to Windows versions of FF?
Anyway - thanks for the information. I was trying to find out how big the ISO download was before I started, as I have a monthly bandwidth limit from my ISP. Thank you for providing that.

Yeah, I guess that 486 Dell Optiplex they set up as a server to "handle the load" just couldn't deal with more than 3 connections at a time.
