Create Your Own Songs Effortlessly with Microsoft Songsmith
Microsoft Research is a great place to look for exciting and fun projects. One of the software from the research labs is called Songsmith. This software lets you record professional-like songs right from your computer.
Name of the application says it all. Songsmith helps you create a song from the scratch with minimal effort. All you got to do is write your own song (if you want to be original) and then sing it using a mic. Once the recording is complete and you hit the stop button, Songsmith will generate musical accompaniment to match your voice and complete the song with the music and everything to make it sound better

Trust me you will not be disappointed. I tried a line or two from one of the songs (I wrote once upon a time) and it actually sounded like music
You can do a lot of things with this software.. you can either select from one of the 30 available musical codes or add your own to the song. Just drag the arrows to left or right to make the background music more jazzy or peppy!
Start by selecting "New Song"

Go on to select to slect the background music style..

Once you are done with the recording, hear an instant preview of the song and if you like what you hear you can either save it or export it to .WMA, .WAV or simply export it to Movie Maker and add it to a birthday video or whatever..

Though this tools is not for free and costs about $30, you can try it for free for up to 6 hours and its totally worth it! Click here to visit Songsmith official site.
If you do try it.. do let me know what you thought about it..
