Windows Operating System has always been criticized for it’s security and it’s vulnerability. But then the counter argument is that this is one Operating System which is used by more number of people compared to the users of other operating system and hence the deal is quite lucrative to the virus writers and programmers. However, with Windows Vista, Microsoft brought in some good security features and one of them is UAC (User Account Control). Following is the definition of UAC as per Wikipedia.

User Account Control (UAC) is a technology and security infrastructure introduced with Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system. It aims to improve the security of Microsoft Windows by limiting application software to standard user privileges until an administrator authorizes an increase in privilege level. In this way, only applications that the user trusts receive higher privileges, and malware should be kept from receiving the privileges necessary to compromise the operating system. In other words, a user account may have administrator privileges assigned to it, but applications that the user runs do not also have those privileges unless they are approved beforehand or the user explicitly authorizes it to have higher privileges.

For a good reason, UAC sometimes can get a lot nagging especially of home power users. Today we’ll see how to disable the UAC in Windows Vista. We can do this in many ways but we are going to see the most easiest and user friendly way of disabling UAC.

Disable UAC using Control Panel

1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.

2. Click User Accounts and family Safety.

3. Click User Accounts.

4. Click Turn User Account Control on or off.

5.Make sure you uncheck the box that reads Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect computer and click OK.

6. That’s it the last step is to restart your computer.

No more nagging UAC prompts.
