Google’s On Demand Site Search Service get’s Turbo!
Google has just launched on demand indexing for Google site search. It’s nothing very new. It’s like the normal site search, just that they have made it on demand meaning the site search will now be much more customized and most importantly the indexing will be more quicker than it has been. The twist however is that it comes with a price tag. That means you’ll have to pay for this on demand indexing service for your site.
It’s a dubious distinction on part of Google to charge for the service. On one hand they want users to create content so that they can boast about 100 billion pages (or so) in their index and on other hand they are now going to charge people so that their site search is more easily and frequently indexed.
Not only this, but Google has agreed to pay the publishers and authors for its book scanning project. Does this mean that the existing content on the web is less valuable than the content on the books? I don’t think so. Frankly, I fail to understand the so called "Don’t be evil" on Google’s part.
The good news however is that now you can set your budget according to your needs of searching. Starting from $100 a year for searching up to 5000 pages to $2250 for searching up to 300,000 pages.
