Today I wrote a post on FeedDemon 2.8 beta 1 and it’s features. I was concerned that there are not too many applications that make a great RSS FeedReader. To me they still feel a little traditional. However, now I think I see some hope with competition catching up. I came across another desktop feed reader client and the good part is that it sync with your bloglines account. The feed reader is called GreatNews.

This reader has a pretty neat interface and is easy to follow navigation. I could import my feeds from newsgator into this Great News feed reader and then sync it with my bloglines account in under 1 minute. It supports all the major languages, 23 in all. One of the best features that I liked about this feed reader is that organzing your feeds is very simple. Following is how the organize feed window looks like:

As feed demon, greatnews feed reader has a statistic feature as well to tell you where, on feeds and how much you are spending your time on. There are 6 different styles for your feed readers look and feel. It doesn’t have tags but is replaced with something called as labels and is pretty similar to tagging feature.

If I were to compare it with FeedDemon, I’d say that’s this software is still not there but surely have a great potential. Just like feeddemon syncs your newsgator feed, greatnews reader takes your bloglines feeds offline. You can check the complete list of features here.
