Is it me or a lot of people out there feel that there’s a market for feed readers. I mean there are a few, but I am not feeling content about the ones which are available. I have used good number of them and the ones that I liked are Google Reader and FeedDemon in Windows and LifeRea in Linux. I moved sometime back from Google reader to feeddemon because I felt the need of having a dedicated client. I think FeedDemon is a very useful software and is almost complete in terms of functionality.

Yesterday, FeedDemon released the new beta version of the software. It was silently released on Twitter by it’s developer Nick Bradbury. I am sure the move was to avoid the limelight and make sure that the news reaches only targeted few. I am lucky to be following him on twitter and hence I managed to get my hands on it. There are a few improvements but nothing exceptionally radical.

The new beta version of feeddemon 2.8 for me has been stable, being able to handle over 1000 feeds. The most noticeable feature is that when you move from one page to another in feeddemon 2.8 beta 1, there’s a soothing transition effect. Apart from this there are some feature improvements. Let’s have a look at a few of them:

You can check the rest of the feature addition and feature changes here.

As this is a beta release it is bound to have bugs, so please use it at your own risk. Take a back up of your feeds OPML before using this release. Also, you can help the developers by reporting the bugs by posting a message in the FeedDemon 2.8 Beta Forum, and please include 2.8B1.
