Google recently celebrated it’s 10 years of inception and now it’s the turn of Google toolbar to turn 8. In a few weeks Google’s much famous toolbar that runs on Internet Explorer and Firefox will be eight years old. Google’s toolbar is being used by millions of users and has made a great impact on how people browse internet. This toolbar has also give Google an edge over it’s competitors as it helps Google’s users to search right from their browser.

If you were to ask me, I’d say there are three main features that has changed the way we browse. One, being the fact that Google toolbar authentically helped run a war against the nagging pop ups of early 2000. Two and probably a life saver more than time saver is Google’s auto fill. I remember the good old days when there were auto fill softwares which were paid. Google changed the battle ground by offering it for free. The last but probably the most important feature of Google Toolbar was the ability to search your favorite search engine Google right from your toolbar.

However, there have been a lot of controversy in terms of Google’s Toolbar collecting information from users machine. As the popular saying goes “Google has you! Be prepared to be Slaves”.

Other small little features like auto suggestion for searching terms also captured attention. Also, Google has just launched Google Toolbar 5 for Internet Explorer. Until now Google Toolbar was in beta stage and has been taken out of beta and launched as a final release in over 40 language support. Some other features of Google toolbar 5 for Internet Explorer are:

Add gadgets to your Toolbar to bring content from your favorite websites closer to you
Synchronize your settings online to access your Toolbar from wherever you are
Create multiple profiles in AutoFill to keep your business and personal information separate
