Microsoft Windows 7: Some great features which are expected.

Guess what it seems like things are moving much faster with the release of Windows 7. We have written about Microsoft ribbon’s venture into various application like notepad and paint. The news in the blogsphere is that the pre-beta release of Windows 7 will be out soon.

Let’s see what’s been causing such a lime light for Windows 7. To start with let us give a glimpse of what lies in future with Windows 7 Operating System. To get a good idea about this you might wanna check this video:

Looks fabulous. I am sure the new release will drive a lot of new hardware sales. Now let’s take a look at what are new features which are expected in the new release.

  1. Gadgets: These will be frequently used tools which will sit right on your desktop and will help you get information at a glance. Hmmm, does it sound like Konfabulator? Bravo Microsoft for realizing this!
  2. Home Group: This will allow you to create a group of home computers. You’ll be able to share stuff like music and pictures much more easily. Not to take away the fact that everything is customizable so you can decide what you want to share.
  3. Drive Protection: This one could be a life saver and I must say a very smart move by Microsoft. Wha tthis feature will do is that it’ll check for the drivers which might cause problems and which might not be compatible and will disallow them to start. A great tool for people who are novice using computers and end up in trouble due to wrong hardware drivers.
  4. Device Information Retrieval: Device Information Retrieval system will download information from Microsoft about your hardware devices and will display it in Windows 7 device and control panel and also when you first install and use a device, in Device stage. This sounds like a bit of privacy concern.
  5. Dynamic Updates: This feature again is an enhancement. When you will first install Windows 7, it’ll check for the latest updates and will install your Operating System with all the updates before you use it for the first time. No more nagging notification post installation.
  6. Games Folder: Microsoft has missed this one in their previous Operating Systems. With Microsoft Windows 7 you’ll be able to right click on a Windows game and check for the updates if any. You can also set this as an automatic check along with your windows update.
  7. BitLocker
