Linkedin Announced new search functionality for People’s Search

Linkedin just announced new capabilities to its “People Search” functionality. Launch of these new features are aimed at making Linkedin user information easily searchable and accessible.

As mentioned on the blog, the search functionality is redesigned from the scratch. The new functionality is not directly accessible as of now as it is a beta release.

To use this new functionality, first go to “People’s Search” and click on a link called “Try ’s new People Search.” in the right top corner of the search page.

The improvements include:

Unified Search Results:
This improvement eliminates the need to click on different tabs to view the results of people in or out of your network.

In Common:
This Field shows the groups and connections you have in common with the selected users.

Saved Searches:
Now you can search for people and also save those searches for further references. The blog post also says that this functionality will be extended in future to add alerts functionality for new additions in the results.

Views:
The search page now offers two different views, 1) Basic, 2) Expanded
