Double Driver A friend of mine often messes up with her computer and the only way to fix it is by reinstalling the OS. The misery does not end there, most of us do not find the recovery CD’s at the right place at the right time, thus making driver installation a huge task.

This article will discuss one of many utilities which offer a simple solution by backing up all the installed drivers on the computer in one location. Once all the drivers are backed up in a directory, it can be saved on a CD or in your Inbox or on your online storage.

This utility is called Double Driver from Boozet.com and is a freeware however you can donate to help the author continue to develop such applications.

Double Driver is a simple and easy to use utility which scans your machine for installed devices and drivers and backs them up, print the list of devices with driver information, save the information in text files, copies computer settings and files to be transferred to any other machine.

It captures everything from Sound Drivers,USB drivers to Mouse and Keyboard drivers. Works on Windows OS only.

Follow the instructions to Backup, Restore and Transfer your computer settings and files to another machine.

Once the software is installed, click it open and hit the "Scan" button to see the list of drivers available on the machine.

Now that the drivers are scanned, you can select from the microsoft-drivers or non-microsoft drivers or All drivers to be backed up.

Make the choice of the drivers to be backed up and hit the "Backup" button

Here you can select the destination of the files which will be backed up, which drivers to be backed up, backup all dependent files, etc..

Hit Browse and select a destination for saving the drivers

Now click "OK" to start the process of saving the installed drivers in one location.

Once the drivers are saved, they will be nicely categorized and saved based on their functionality.

The following steps will help you restore your drivers…

As shows in the image below, first click on "Restore", "Locate" the driver backup and hit "Restore" within the Double Driver – Restore Driver window.

Click on the "Save" button on the toolbar and save the information about all the device drivers in a notepad as shown in the image below.

Another useful feature it offers is "Files and Settings Transfer" option which lets you either import or export all the settings and files from one computer to another.
