Microsoft announced a new search contest (SearchPerks) which rewards its users for searching Microsoft Live Search. Non-Americans cannot be a part of this contest and is limited to first 1.000,000 respondents. Last date for participation is 31st of December and the tickets can only be traded in April of 2009.

By searching on Live you earn tickets (points) which can later be converted into prizes. Each registrant gets 500 points just by participating in the promotional contest. So, just buy signing up you can get Ringtones, Emote Icons, Songs, etc.. click here to see the list of prizes.

For every search you perform on Microsoft Live Search you earn 1 ticket and no more than 25 tickets are awarded per day per user. That’s a good clause, else, it would have been another business outsourced to India.

With SearchPerks Microsoft aims at improving market share of Live Search and hopefully get the users to come back to Live search even after the contest is over.
I remember a statement Ballmer made in one of his interviews “We will try again and again and again, until we get it right” the statement was with reference to Microsoft’s search technology and this is exactly what they are doing.
