Synaptics Gestures: Usefulness of “Multi-Touch” brought to the Laptops!
A Japanese company, Synaptics inc., brings the usefulness of multi-touch to the Laptop touch-pads. The company announced two new advanced gestures – Two-Finger Flick and ChiralRotate. These two gestures join the existing ones, ChiralMotion, Pinch and Momentum.
ChiralRotate lets users rotate images or graphics in applications by moving a finger in a circular motion.
Two-Finger Flick adds a lot of functionality like navigating back-and-forth through images, documents and objects. Also, flicking vertically will minimize or maximize an application.
Pinch lets users zoom in or zoom out of image or any applications by pinching in or out.
Momentum turns touchpad functionality into a track-ball it lets users flick finger on the touch-pad and the arrow runs inline with the fingers direction.
ChiralMotion, moving one finger on the right side or two fingers anywhere in a circular motion scrolls up or down on the documents or applications.
“The addition of ChiralRotate and Two-Finger Flick are the most recent examples of Synaptics’ ongoing commitment to driving innovation and improved usability to all types of PC applications,” said Mark Vena, vice president of Synaptics’ PC Business Unit. “Consumer and business users alike are always looking for ways to do things faster and more intuitively on their notebook systems and PC peripherals, and these new Synaptics gestures are aimed at delivering just that.”
Companies like DELL, Logitech, Samsung, etc.. have used Synaptics technology in their products to offer enhanced features to the users.
