BOSS Linux-Indian version of Linux
India is far from being untouched from the charm created by Linux and open source community. Centre for Development of Advanced Computing , C-DAC has launched Bharat Operating Systems Solutions (BOSS) Linux version 3.0 developed by NRCFOSS (National Resource Centre for Free/Open Source Software) on Sept 4, 2008 at NIC, New Delhi. It’s thrilling to know that C-DAC team’s ultimate goal is to localize it into all 22 official Indian languages so that Information Technology can reach even the non-English speaking masses that are denied its benefits today.
The NRCFOSS is promoted by the Department of Information Technology, MC&IT, Government of India. The site to download the linux distro BOSS is down and hence we’ll bring a complete feature update as soon as we have our hands on it. In the mean time we have the following information.
