KSnapShot-Snagit for Linux

Linux has the reputation of not being user friendly in a way that Microsoft and Apple are. Taking a screenshot although is not very difficult and there are endless number of posts available online.However, if you have used Snagit on Windows you would be wishing if there was similar utility available that make capturing screenshots so much more easier.

Well, if not which however is proprietary and would cost you $49.95 on windows, there is something similar called as KSnapShot, which is available for Linux. Not as loaded as in terms of features, however it’s quite handful than trying to take a screenshot from the terminal. Taking screenshots from terminal requires you to remember commands and so on. Not a very good for a novice linux user to use terminal for taking screenshot.

Let’s quickly take a look at how this utility looks like:

The big question now is how do you get KSnapShot. Yes, by default it doesn’t come with Ubuntu as Ubuntu is a Gnome based Linux Distro. The easiest way to get it is by using synaptic package manager.

System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager

Once you have opened Synaptic, just search for and install it. By default it’ll get installed under the graphics
