Rick752: Man on a Mission. A Google Killer, Literally!
Not really a Google Killer but an Ad Killer (No Ads, No Google.. Now it makes sense, right?). "Ricky725" that’s what he likes to be known as. He hates advertisments, so, he did what a normal person would do (just that no one did it so far), make a list of all the advertisments you see on the internet and block them and how can you make it even better? Share this list with millions of users on the internet.
Ricky725 maintains a list called EasyList which has a list of advertisments he sees online. EasyList Filter can be used by an AdBlocking program called Adblock Plus which will trun off advertisments base on the list subscription.
Though this software is used by millions of users on the internet no significant drop has been noticed in the Ad revenue on-line, however, bloggers and website owners have started taking notice of this software and few of them are going ahead and blocking users detected with this Adblocking softwares.
I think both sides have a valid agrument, Rick says he started making a list of the advertisments because not only they were getting annoying but few infected users computers. On the other hand bloggers and webmasters have a valid point saying blogs and sites cannot run for long if they dont monitize their content with Ads.
Why not just block the ones which are really annoying and infecting computers, now thats a better Idea right there!
