![]() |
A clerk named Jagmeet Channa of Indian origin working in London at HSBC bank was caught when he tried to steal 70mn (565 Crore Rupees) pounds from HSBC. He tried to transfer money from one account to another, that is when the intelligent systems alarmed the authorities and the clerk was caught even before the transaction was completed.
This would have been the biggest scam in the history of bank robberies if he would have been able to get away with it. Jagmeet is currently in jail on the charges of money laundering and abusing trust.
HSBC reported that none of the services were disrupted or customers affected as the fraud was detected in time.
