IRC is the best invention in the field of communication. It brings together the smartest and the geekiest people in the world. I spend over two years (2000 – 2002) on IRC and learned a lot in the process. IRC has a lot to offer in terms of information. This article will discuss the darker side of IRC and how this medium of communication is being abused by people who want to make some quick money.
So what’d the darker side of IRC, what does it have to offer? You name it and they have it. Hacking into e-mail accounts, hacking into hotels database for credit card information, buy expensive laptops for cheap no matter where in the world you are, buy paypal accounts, buy thousands of e-mail addresses, buy hacked roots, Bank Logins, Paypal accounts, etc.. etc..
Most of the channels and servers where the real action happens is either inaccessible as it is under secret mode (+S), password protected or only on invite basis, never the less, there are a few channels where you can still see such trading happening.

There are hundreds of network on IRC but the most busy and popular ones are 1) EFnet, created by Greg Lindahl, in 1990, 2) Undernet was created by Danny Mitchell in 1992 and 3) DALnet created by “dalvenjah" in 1994.
