Dish TV on Car in India Dish TV claims to be India’s first DTH entertainment company, guess what, it has another claim to make. Dish TV is the first company to launch satellite TV for automobiles in India. Which means you can watch your favorite programs seamlessly even when you are on the move, travelling was never so much fun, was it?

Lets get down with specifics. A pan like antenna is installed on the rooftop of the car which tracks the Dish TV’s satellite placed at 36,000km orbit. This system offers 170 TV channels and comes in two different models. I didn’t find much information on the web about the equipment models Dish TV offers but I did gather some information from Mr. Mohan Singh who is part of UVC Group, Hyderabad which deals with the equipment and installations.

Dish TV offers two models, basic model costs close to Rs 70,000 and works only in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore. The other model costs close to Rs 1,50,000, offers 170 channel and is active all over India and offers better picture quality up to 40% than compared to the basic model. The cheaper model is bulkier than the other one. I did find two manufacturing companies which offer similar equipment for delivering satellite TV on the move. One of the companies called KVH offers TracVision A5 In-Motion for $1,900 and TracVision A7 for $2,500. The cheaper model is bulkier than the expensive one.

Another company which offers similar equipment is RaySat. It offers two models SpeedRay™ 1000 and RaySat T5. SpeedRay™ 1000 costs close to $2,000 and RaySat T5 is cheaper than the other model.
