Ubuntu. Linux. An operating system. Wait… what’s that? Can I see you shudder with fear? Fear not.. because Ubuntu (pronounced You-buntu) is here.
Ubuntu has become the #1 user-friendly linux desktop OS in less than 2 years! Best of all, like all Linux distributions released under the GPL/GNU license, it’s free. (Yes, you read it right.)

On a personal level, I’ve been using Ubuntu since Breezy Badger.. and after having used RedHat, Slackware, Knoppix, Gentoo, and also FreeBSD, I have to say Ubuntu is a very calming, and a satisfying Linux distro that _will_ capture your heart, and time. If you’ve always put away Linux, but you still want to stay in the loop with what’s hot, and learn a little about Linux down the lane in an easy and fun way… Ubuntu is the answer. For newbies, and experts alike, Ubuntu has proven to be an amazing distro which can be a regular desktop, or a bastion of a server.

Today, Ubuntu released it’s latest version, codenamed Edgy Eft (6.10) as an update to it’s predecessor Dapper Drake (6.06). Install shouldn’t be a problem at all if you get the alternate install ISO. Check it out and good luck!
