Google Customized! If you always wanted to own a search engine, here is your chance to have one. Google offers an option of designing your own search engine. This search engine is completely customizable. You can restrict the search results to selected sites only, or maintain a list of site which will be given preference over others in the results. Add your logo to the search results page. Show results on your own site or on Google.com.

These are just a few things I mentioned about the customization however you will find a lot of other options like switching advertisements On or Off on the search results, etc.

It also offers something called “Google Marker” which comes in the form of a bookmarklet just drag and drop on your shortcut bar and while browsing a site if this bookmarklet is clicked on it will add the current site in the address bar to the list of sites you have mentioned in the customized search engine which is given more preference in the search engine.

People can volunteer for to join your search engine team to customize and add more sites to the list. You can invite up to 100 people to join your team and make your own better search engine.
