Internet Explorer 7 Out of BETA!

IE 7 Out of BETA

Microsoft kicked Internet Explorer 7 out of BETA! Though running new products in the BETA version is in fashion now, it’s nice to know does not follow the fashion. Internet Explorer 7 is packed with lot of new features and couple of upgrades. New features such as Tab Browsing or Search Box might not attract the FireFox users as these features are part of FireFox since a very long time now. Click here to view the New and Improved IE 7 interface.

Lets see couple of obvious new features you will notice the moment you open Internet Explorer 7:

Security: The moment you click open your IE 7 You will see a pop up asking whether phishing. This is a new security feature in IE which warns and protects you against malicious software, and help to keep your personal data safe from fraudulent websites and online phishing scams.

Clean and Simple: The new clean interface opens more room for the websites and hides stuff which are not required.  Microsoft is following Google’s rule of “Simple is Good!”

Tab Browsing: Microsoft believes in Innovating + copying. This new feature is inspired by FireFox and lets you open multiple sites in the same windows and different tabs. Well based on my initial observations I think opening tabs in IE is a little slower than compared to FireFox, never the less it is a good and a welcomed feature for IE users. Now that IE 7 offers Tab Browsing which lets you open multiple sites in one window, Site Sorter view offers a thumbnail view of all the websites open in different Tab’s in one single window. This feature is similar to slide sorter view in MS PowerPoint. I have to accept that this is my favorite feature in IE 7.

Printing: IE 7 offers better printing capabilities and a improved print preview interface. Print preview offers print margins adjustments without leaving the print preview interface.

RSS Feeds: Well what can I say, this should have happened long ago, but it’s never too late. IE 7 offers in build support for reading RSS feeds. FireFox is expected to include this feature in its up coming release.

Search Box: IE 7 includes a search box on the top-right corner of the window, by default it searches Live.com but trust me you are better of with Google.com. So change your default search option to Google.com.

How to change Default Search in IE 7
: To change your search defaults in IE 7 click on the arrow right next to the search box and click on “Find More Providers” and from the list select “Google.com” and click “Replace” in the pop up.

Add-on’s
: If that was not enough to compare IE 7 with FireFox, then IE 7 also offers the option of installing additional Add-on’s for added functionality and personalization. FireFox users know these add-on’s as extensions.

Few of the other new or improved features include better Favorites interface, zoom in and out option, Site Sorter, etc.

All and all I think IE 7 is a good package is a good play around with for a while and after realizing that FireFox offers more and much faster it’s wise to get back to FireFox!
